In real estate, buyers meet
the brand before the building.

I design names, logos, identities and rebrands for real estate developers and brokerages, and work remotely with businesses in the UAE and the US. Real estate developer branding has to sell a project from renders and a sales center and fit the rules: in Dubai, every property ad needs a permit and its QR code, and in Texas and California, ads must show the broker’s name, with license numbers too in California. I plan the brand with room for those details. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal.

What makes real estate branding different

Real estate developer branding often starts before there is a building to show. In Dubai, off-plan deals made up about 70% of residential sales in November 2025, Betterhomes data reported by Khaleej Times show, so buyers judge a project by its name, logo and renders. The market is large and international: more than 270,000 real estate transactions in 2025 and around 193,100 investors, 129,600 of them new, the Dubai Media Office reported. Resident investors made up 56.6% of the total, so more than 4 in 10 were non-residents, and the brand has to win them from a distance.

Real estate brokerage branding starts in a crowded field. Dubai had 32,294 registered brokers and 9,785 brokerage offices at the end of 2025, and 13,083 of those brokers were new that year. In the US, the BLS counts 530,600 broker and sales agent jobs in 2025, and 55% of brokers are self-employed. In NAR’s 2025 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, 88% of buyers bought through an agent or broker and 91% of sellers sold with one. US builders face the same pressure: an estimated 678,000 new homes sold in 2025, and 477,000 were for sale at the end of December, a 7.9-month supply, the Census Bureau and HUD report. A new community competes with many other new homes for the same buyers.

  • Dubai: no marketing before the permitDubai Law No. 8 of 2007 bars developers from advertising off-plan units in local or international media, or at exhibitions, without written approval. A RERA circular of March 2025 adds: no marketing until the project is registered, its escrow account is open and a RERA permit is issued. Plan the launch around it.
  • A fixed spot for the permit and QR codeDubai requires the permit number in all real estate ads, and since April 24, 2023 the Madmoun QR code on print and audiovisual ads. Abu Dhabi ads have needed an ADREC Madhmoun permit since July 7, 2025, with some exclusions; ADGM properties on Al Reem and Al Maryah islands need an ADGM permit. Leave room for them.
  • Master brand, project brands or bothA developer brand can work at two levels: a master brand that carries its track record, and a project brand buyers see on the construction site, in the brochure and in ads. Decide early whether each project stands alone or carries a “by [developer]” line, because the logo lockups, signs and ads follow from it.
  • REALTOR® can’t be part of the firm nameFor NAR members, REALTOR® follows the firm name, set off by punctuation, as in “Jack Jones Realty, Inc., REALTORS®”. Online it can’t be used with descriptive words, so a domain like chicagorealtors.org is out. Choose a brokerage name that stands on its own.
  • State rules for broker names and license numbersIn Texas, ads must show the broker’s name at least half the size of the largest agent or team contact, and team names end in “team” or “group”. In California, cards, websites, flyers and signs naming an agent need the 8-digit license number and responsible broker’s name, the number no smaller than the smallest type.
  • Fair housing applies to every adThe US Fair Housing Act bars any housing ad that indicates a preference based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin. Write taglines and choose photos for every project and listing with that in mind.

Questions founders ask

What does real estate developer branding include?

It can cover a master brand for the developer, a brand for each project, or both: positioning, a name, a logo system, color, type and guidelines, designed for hoardings (construction site fence wraps), a sales center, brochures and ads that need room for permit details. Positioning sets the tone, whether the project is sold on exclusivity or on value. A brand identity takes 4–10 weeks; naming is a separate service of 2–4 weeks.

When should a Dubai developer start branding a new project?

Well before launch, without publishing anything early. Dubai Law No. 8 of 2007 bars off-plan advertising without written approval, and a March 2025 RERA circular adds that a project can’t be marketed until it is registered, its escrow account is open and RERA has issued a permit, and every ad must carry the permit’s QR code. A brand identity takes 4–10 weeks, plus 2–4 weeks of naming first if the project still needs a name, so start early enough for the brand to be ready by the date you expect the permit.

How is real estate brokerage branding different?

A brokerage sells the trust its agents earn, so the brand has to work for the firm and for every agent and team. It also has to attract agents: Dubai added 13,083 new brokers in 2025 alone. Plan agent and team lockups from the start so the broker’s name stays prominent; in Texas it must be at least half the size of the largest agent or team contact in an ad. Since August 17, 2024, NAR rules have required MLS participants working with a buyer to sign a written agreement before touring a home, so your brand has to explain your value before the first tour.

Can my brokerage use REALTOR® in its name or domain?

Only as NAR allows. REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark for NAR members. It may not be part of the firm name: it follows the name, separated by punctuation. In domains and email addresses it must refer to a member or the member’s firm, never be used with descriptive words, so johndoerealtor.com works and number1realtor.com does not. My naming service checks domains and runs a preliminary USPTO search.

Do you design Arabic and English brands for UAE developers?

Yes. For the UAE I design Arabic and English versions of the name, logo and type so they work as one brand, including right-to-left layouts. In Dubai, a shopfront shows one trade name, horizontally, with Arabic above English, so a brokerage or sales center with a shopfront needs a stacked version of the logo; offices above the ground floor may not put a trade-name sign on the outside facade at all. Your lawyer registers the trademark with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, using the clean files I hand over.

Have you worked with real estate companies?

Yes. Lyvio is an AI real estate brand for the Middle East market, with a brand, app and website. Astrix Builders is a construction identity with applications for hoardings, fleet, stationery and social, and NestEdge an architecture identity and website. Susan Crane’s review on this page is about a new logo for her real estate company. I don’t present any of them as a UAE or US developer client.

How much does real estate branding cost?

It depends on the scope: a brokerage logo, a developer’s master brand, or project brands in Arabic and English. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, the timeline and the deliverables, in USD for the US and in USD or AED for the UAE.
