In beauty, the pack is the brand,
and the label has rules.
A perfume brand identity has to work as one name, one logo, one box and one label, and in this sector the label carries required content. In Saudi Arabia SFDA decides which label data must be in Arabic, UAE labels follow UAE.S GSO 1943, and every US cosmetic label needs a contact for adverse event reports. I work remotely with founders in all three markets. Packaging design takes 2–4 weeks and a brand identity 4–10 weeks.

Bottles, boxes and salon fronts, and the rules behind them
When Al Majed for Oud priced its IPO of a 30% stake in 2024, Gulf News reported that at the end of 2023 it had 286 stores, 237 of them in Saudi Arabia, and 650 products across 132 brands. Citing ZATCA, Arab News reported that Saudi Arabia imported 1,145,498 kg of oud and 1,513 kg of oud oil between the second half of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024. In 2024 UNESCO inscribed the cultural practices around Taif roses, whose rose water and oil go into beauty products. And perfume was the top category at Dubai Duty Free in 2025, with 18.45% of sales.
In the US, Circana reports that mass fragrance grew 15% in dollars in 2025 and prestige fragrance 5%; in prestige, higher concentrations such as perfume and mini sizes remained influential. Med spas are a market of their own: the American Med Spa Association’s 2024 report counted 10,488 med spas in the US in 2023, up from 8,899 in 2022, and found 89% of patients are women.
So design the identity for the smallest thing you sell: if minis and sample vials matter, the mark and the scent name have to read on a vial as well as on a full bottle and a gift box. In Saudi Arabia and the UAE the pack often carries two scripts, and the label has required content, so the type and layout need room for it. For the Arabic side, read designing a bilingual brand in Arabic and English. If your med spa is in San Antonio, see how I work with San Antonio businesses.
- Saudi Arabia: Arabic on the label and in the adSFDA’s cosmetics rules list what each product must carry, from product and trade name to ingredients, production date or batch number, and country of origin, and SFDA sets which data must be in Arabic. Ads use Arabic, with any other language matching it, may not run before listing and must show the product as listed.
- UAE: labels with evidence behind themCosmetics, perfumes included, fall under Cabinet Resolution No. 18 of 2014, and perfumes also under No. 5 of 2014 on fragrances. Labels follow UAE.S GSO 1943, name allergens in the ingredient list, rest on lab evidence and avoid pictures at odds with UAE customs and values. MoIAT’s certificate needs the label artwork.
- US: a contact line on every packFDA requires the product’s identity and net quantity on the front panel and ingredients in descending order. MoCRA adds a US address, a US phone number or electronic contact information such as a website for adverse event reports. FDA says a fax number or QR code is unlikely to make reporting easy. Leave room for it.
- Words that turn a cosmetic into a drugFDA says claims that a product will restore hair growth, reduce cellulite, treat varicose veins or revitalize cells make it a drug, even if it is marketed as a cosmetic. For skincare and med spa brands, write the tagline and product names with the claims you can make in mind.
- Salon fronts in Saudi Arabia and DubaiMOMAH’s 2025 rules for women’s beauty salons in Saudi Arabia ask for a frosted or clear glass facade, a visual barrier separating the reception and a “No entry for men” sign, so the sign and the glass carry the brand. In Dubai a shopfront shows one trade name, horizontal, with Arabic above English.
- Med spas in Texas, San Antonio includedTexas treats cosmetic injections as the practice of medicine. Texas Medical Board rules require the delegating physician’s name and license number in each public area and treatment room, a name tag with credentials for anyone doing a delegated procedure, and physician ads that flag models or actors as not patients.

Questions founders ask
What does a perfume or skincare brand identity include?
For a perfume, oud or skincare house: a logo and a short mark that still read on a cap, an atomizer or a sample vial; color, type and voice; and type rules for the product name, the concentration (such as eau de parfum) and the size, shown on a bottle, a box and a label, in Arabic and English where needed. Handover is brand guidelines (PDF) and a Figma library with source files. A brand identity takes 4–10 weeks. Packaging design for the full range is a separate service (2–4 weeks), and so is naming (2–4 weeks).
Do you design Arabic perfume identities (تصميم هوية بصرية لعطور)?
Yes. For the UAE and Saudi Arabia I design Arabic and English versions of the name, logo and type so they work as one brand, including right-to-left layouts. For Saudi Arabia that means Arabic-first type: SFDA sets which label data must be in Arabic, and cosmetic ads there use Arabic.
Can a perfume brand in Saudi Arabia have an English name?
Yes. The Ministry of Commerce reserves trade names in Arabic or in English, and an English name may use English words, letters or numbers. It must not resemble a reserved or registered trade name in any activity, a world-famous name or mark, or a trademark registered or famous in the Kingdom. Under the 2025 regulations an English name also needs an Arabic transliteration and is assessed for similarity by its Arabic equivalent. My naming service includes a preliminary trademark search that covers SAIP. You reserve the trade name with the Ministry, and your lawyer files the trademark.
Do you do beauty salon branding in the UAE?
Yes, remotely, with Arabic and English versions of the name and logo, including a lockup for the shop sign. If the salon sells products under its own label, those labels fall under the UAE cosmetics scheme (perfumes also fall under a separate fragrances regulation): UAE.S GSO 1943, allergens named in the ingredient list, and a MoIAT certificate that needs the label artwork, so design the label before you apply. Trademark registration in the UAE goes through the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, filed by your lawyer.
Do you work on med spa branding in San Antonio?
Yes, remotely, with calls in your working hours. Texas Medical Board rules touch the brand, so the identity should plan for them: a posted notice with the delegating physician’s name and Texas license number in each public area and treatment room, a name tag (or similar) showing the credentials of anyone performing a delegated procedure, and guidelines for ads that mark models or actors as not actual patients. Testimonials in physician ads also need a disclaimer about the speaker’s credentials and a disclosure of any payment. A brand identity takes 4–10 weeks.
Is any of the work shown from a beauty or fragrance brand?
No. These are the closest real projects on this site: ChocoBloom and Bright Fizz for packaging; Reva7, a resort identity carried from the welcome folder to the soap bar; and Sovia, a mental wellbeing and addiction recovery brand whose calm identity is used on signage, print and merch. None of them is presented as a beauty client.
How much does perfume or beauty branding cost?
It depends on the scope: an identity, packaging for how many products, one market or several, and one script or two. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, the timeline and the deliverables, and the price never changes mid-project. The guide to brand identity cost in 2026 explains typical market ranges.
