Buraidah sells by the box, at the carnival and abroad
Buraidah is the administrative capital of the Qassim region. At the 2022 census Buraidah Governorate had 677,647 residents, about half of Qassim’s 1,336,179, and 230,396 of them, roughly one in three, were not Saudi citizens. The city has Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz International Airport and a station on the SAR north line.
Dates set the calendar. Qassim has more than 11 million date palms, and the 75-day Buraidah International Dates Carnival markets more than 85% of the region’s Sukkari dates. In the first 15 days of the 2026 season, 12,377 vehicles brought in 2,084,421 packages of dates. In 2021 UNESCO added Buraidah to its Creative Cities Network for gastronomy, and the 17th Klija Festival, held January 8–22, 2026, drew more than half a million visitors.
So plan a Buraidah date or food brand for the box first: the carnival floor, the shop shelf and the export carton, with Arabic as the lead language and English for buyers who need it. See packaging design, or read how to design a bilingual Arabic–English brand.
- Arabic first on every food labelThe SFDA’s regulation for prepackaged food labels, SFDA.FD/GSO 9, asks for labeling in Arabic; any other language sits alongside the Arabic and must say the same thing. So a date box, a klija pack or a jar of date syrup needs the Arabic, and any English, in the first layout, not squeezed in at print.
- A fixed spot for a one-year markThe National Center for Palms and Dates introduced the Saudi Dates Mark in 2018 for farms, factories and companies that meet its technical requirements, including food safety. More than 4,000 had received it by 2021, and it is valid for one year. Give it a set place on the box, clear of your logo.
- Use Buraidah in the story, not the nameSince April 2025 a trade name can be in English, with an Arabic transliteration, but a city or region name may not be its main element. Buraidah still belongs on the pack: show it as the origin and in the brand story, and build the name itself on a distinctive word.
- Your trucks count as signs tooSaudi sign rules cover the owner’s advertising on a commercial vehicle inside city limits as well as shop signs: secretariats and municipalities regulate both, and classical Arabic applies. In Buraidah that is Qassim Municipality, the regional secretariat, so plan the truck livery with the identity.
- Exporting? Protect the name abroadThe carnival’s logistics services offer air freight to more than 70 countries. On October 8, 2026 the Madrid Protocol, the treaty behind WIPO’s international trademark system, entered into force for Saudi Arabia, so ask your lawyer which export markets an international registration should cover.
- The season sets the deadlineThe dates carnival starts at the beginning of August and runs about 75 days. The annual Klija Festival, run by the Qassim Chamber, had more than 340 sales outlets, marketing corners and points of sale in 2026 and takes the name International Klija Festival from its next edition. Print new boxes before each opens.

Questions founders ask
Do you have an office or a team in Buraidah?
No. I work remotely and have no office or team in Buraidah. Calls and weekly check-ins are set in your working hours (UTC+3 all year, no daylight saving), and drafts, feedback and final files are shared online, so you can review a box design from the factory or the carnival floor.
Do you work as a visual identity designer in Arabic for Buraidah businesses (مصمم هوية بصرية في بريدة)?
Yes. In Buraidah the Arabic is not optional: prepackaged food labels must be in Arabic under the SFDA’s labeling regulation, with any English alongside it, and an English trade name needs an Arabic transliteration. For Saudi Arabia I design Arabic and English versions of the name, logo and type so they work as one brand, including right-to-left layouts.
Can I name my business “Buraidah Dates” or “Qassim Sukkari”?
Not as your registered trade name. Under the trade name regulations a city or region name may not be the main element of a trade name, and a place plus a date variety could describe any seller at the carnival. The naming service gives you name ideas, a shortlist, domain and social checks and a preliminary SAIP trademark search before you reserve the trade name with the Ministry of Commerce.
My dates ship abroad. Can you register the trademark in Saudi Arabia and overseas?
No. Trademark filing is not part of a design project: your lawyer files it with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, and I hand over clean files. For other countries, ask your lawyer whether an international registration under the Madrid Protocol fits your export markets.
How long does a brand identity, rebrand or packaging project take?
A brand identity takes 4–10 weeks, a rebrand 6–12 weeks, a brand refresh 3–6 weeks, and packaging design or a logo 2–4 weeks. The process is Discovery, Strategy, Identity and Handover, with two revision rounds per phase. For new boxes, count back from early August for the dates carnival, or from the Klija Festival (January or February in recent years), and add your printer’s lead time.
How much does branding cost for a date or food business in Buraidah?
It depends on the scope: how many products, box sizes and labels the brand needs on day one, and whether the Arabic and English are designed together. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, and the price never changes mid-project.
Have you worked with date or food companies in Buraidah?
None of the projects shown here is from Buraidah, and none is a date brand. They are the closest real work: ChocoBloom, chocolate packaging for the French market; Happy Tail, a dog food brand identity and packaging; Nurtur, a seed company; and ROMO Logistics, a transport brand used on fleet, signage and packaging.
