A remote brand designer
for Abha’s visitor economy.
If you are looking for a brand designer in Abha, I work remotely on brand identity, rebranding and packaging for the kinds of businesses the city runs on: hotels, mountain stays, cafés and honey and rose-water producers. The Arabic and English are designed as one brand that works on a facade, a menu, a label and a booking page. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, the timeline and the deliverables. A brand identity takes 4–10 weeks and a rebrand 6–12 weeks.

A tourism city in the Aseer highlands
Abha is the administrative capital of the Aseer region, a mountain city in the Sarawat range. At the 2022 census, Abha Governorate had 422,243 residents, out of 2,024,285 in the region. The city lives on tourism, agriculture and trade: it draws over two million visitors each tourist season and was named capital of Arab tourism in 2017. Summer highs average about 31°C, and the Aseer Summer 2026 season opened in June, aiming for over three million visitors. Abha has been known for its honey for centuries, its Honey Festival lets buyers check the quality before they buy, and a rose farm north of the city distills rose water. Abha Chamber has a tourism committee, a small and medium enterprises committee and a Small Enterprises Center.
The Aseer Development Authority’s strategy aims for about 9.1 million visits and about 94,000 additional direct jobs by 2030, with initiatives to design the tourism experience in Abha and to build up small and medium tourism businesses. Soudah Peaks, which PIF-owned Soudah Development is developing around Al-Soudah, about 25 km from the city, aims to serve over two million visitors by 2033. So an Abha brand has to work for guests from across the Kingdom and from abroad, on a facade, a menu and a booking page, in Arabic and English. I take this work on remotely as a brand identity designer, with no office in Abha: from the first call to the final files, everything is shared online. Read how to design a bilingual Arabic–English brand, or see my hospitality and travel work.
- Abha Highlands is a named building styleThe Saudi Architecture Characters Map, launched in March 2025, names 19 styles, one of them Abha Highlands, and Abha is in its first phase, which starts with major projects, government buildings and commercial structures. Opening in a new commercial building? Test your sign and logo on that facade, not a white mockup.
- The city name can’t carry your trade nameUnder the trade name regulations, a city or region name such as Abha or Aseer may not be the primary or central element of a trade name, and an English name needs an Arabic transliteration. Build the name on its own idea and let the place play a supporting role.
- Al-Qatt is living heritageUNESCO inscribed Al-Qatt Al-Asiri, the wall painting done mostly by women in Aseer, in 2017 and calls it a key element of the region’s identity. Designers now use it on other surfaces too. If your brand borrows from it, work with an Al-Qatt artist from Aseer and credit the source instead of copying a photo.
- Stays are licensed by the Ministry of TourismThe Ministry of Tourism licenses hotels, resorts, hotel apartments, camps, chalets, heritage hotels and hostels, and its 2022 guide grades most by stars or class. Amended rules with new specialized categories apply from July 1, 2027. Know your category: a heritage hotel and a mountain resort need different stories.
- Plan the sign with the municipalitySaudi sign rules put shop signs under the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, via city secretariats and municipalities, and cap the annual fee per square meter. Licensed advertisers may not affect the natural surroundings. For a lodge or viewpoint café, plan a sign that fits the landscape, with a legible logo.
- Guests arrive from abroad, tooAbha’s airport was raised from regional to international status in 2020, and at the 2022 census about a third of Abha Governorate’s residents (135,867 of 422,243) were not Saudi. Lead in Arabic, and make the English on menus, room signs and booking pages just as clear for guests who don’t read Arabic.

Questions founders ask
Do you have an office or staff in Abha?
No. I work remotely with businesses in Abha and have no office or staff there. Saudi Arabia stays on UTC+3 all year, so the free 30-minute call and the weekly check-ins fit your working day, and drafts, feedback and final files are all shared online.
Can I use “Abha” or “Aseer” in my business name?
Only as a supporting word. The trade name regulations bar a city or region name from being the primary or central element of a trade name, so the distinctive part has to be your own. The same regulations let the registrar treat a name as similar to an existing one if it differs by a single letter or uses the same letters in a different order, and English names are judged by their Arabic equivalents. The naming service gives you a shortlist, domain and social checks and a preliminary SAIP trademark search. Your lawyer files the trademark.
Do you design the Arabic version of the identity too?
Yes. If you searched for a visual identity designer in Abha (مصمم هوية بصرية في أبها), I do that work remotely and in both scripts: for Saudi Arabia I design Arabic and English versions of the name, logo and type so they work as one brand, including right-to-left layouts. In a tourism city, I test both scripts on the shop sign, the menu and the honey label that Saudi guests and visitors from abroad read at a glance.
How long does a brand identity or a rebrand take before summer?
A brand identity takes 4–10 weeks, a rebrand 6–12 weeks, and a logo or packaging design 2–4 weeks, with two revision rounds per phase. Abha’s summer average highs are about 31°C, and the Aseer Summer 2026 season opened in June 2026. If you are opening or relaunching for summer, count back from your opening date: first the design time, then the time your sign maker and printer need.
How much does branding cost for a business in Abha?
It depends on the scope: how many places the brand must work on day one, from facade and signs to menus, packaging and a booking site, and whether both scripts are designed together. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, the timeline and the deliverables, and the price never changes mid-project.
Have you worked with companies in Abha?
None of the projects shown here is from Abha. They are the closest real work to the city’s visitor economy: Reva7, a resort; Wayfare, a travel agency in Los Angeles; Tong, a coffee shop; and ChocoBloom, chocolate packaging for the French market.
