The challenge
Thousands of private chargers sit unused every day while drivers pass by with nowhere to plug in. Nothing connects the two.
EV drivers often travel through areas where public stations are unavailable, occupied or too far away. That creates range anxiety, while chargers at homes and businesses sit idle for most of the day.

The strategy
Turn idle private chargers into a people-powered charging network.
Drivers find an available charger on a map and send a request to its owner. Once it’s accepted, they charge and pay the owner securely in the app. The brand had to stand for accessible energy, trusted connections and community-powered mobility.

The mark
The name says it: share spare capacity and turn unused power into extra income.
Two forms, a driver and a charger owner, meet around a central gap: the request that connects them. Flowing paths carry energy both ways, power for the driver and income for the owner.

Type and color
One family: Plus Jakarta Sans. Hierarchy comes from weight and scale rather than a second typeface, which keeps data-dense screens calm.
The palette is two greens: Lime Green for highlights and actions, Dark Green for backgrounds and text.

Launch campaign
Skip the queue. Charge around the corner.
The launch line puts the driver’s benefit first. It runs from highway billboards to print and digital ads, always with one clear action: find a charger.

The product
One app for both sides of the charger: drivers find, request and pay, while owners accept requests and track their earnings.
We designed the full charging session from search to payment, a smartwatch companion that confirms requests and guides drivers to the charger, and the interface on the charger screen itself.

Brand in the world
The identity had to work wherever drivers meet a charger: on the street, at home and on their phones.
We designed launch assets across billboards, charger signage, parking bays and social, all built from one set of brand guidelines.

The outcome
A brand and product system that lets SpareCharge make charging more available without waiting for new public stations.
Drivers can travel with more confidence, owners earn from capacity that was already sitting idle, and the team has guidelines and design tokens to build on from day one.

EV branding questions
Straight answers before you book a call.
How much does an EV charging brand identity cost?
It depends on scope: strategy, logo, guidelines, product UI and launch assets. After a free 30-minute call you get a written quote for your exact scope. Our guide to brand identity pricing explains what drives the cost.
How long does a brand identity project take?
SpareCharge took eight weeks, from positioning to a token-based design system. A focused logo project is faster. You get a clear timeline with your quote, before any work starts.
Can you design the app as well as the brand?
Yes. For SpareCharge we designed the charging app, a smartwatch companion and the charger screen on the same system as the brand, so product and marketing feel like one company.
Do you work with EV and energy startups in the US and the Middle East?
Yes. We work with founders across the US and the Middle East, with calls in your time zone and files your team can use from day one.
What do we get at the end of the project?
A logo and mark, color and typography, brand guidelines and organized master files, plus any product UI or launch assets in your scope.
