Brand identity for San Antonio,
from proposal decks to River Walk signs.

If you are looking for a brand designer in San Antonio, I work remotely on brand identity, rebranding and logos for businesses there. For a cyber or IT firm the brand is planned for bids and proposal decks; for a River Walk hotel or restaurant, for menus and signs that may need city review. Calls and weekly check-ins run on Central time. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, the timeline and the deliverables. A brand identity takes 4–10 weeks and a rebrand 6–12 weeks.

Cyber buyers and over 39 million visitors: two markets for a San Antonio brand

San Antonio is the seventh-largest city in the US, with 1,548,422 residents in the July 2025 Census estimate. greater:SATX counts four major military installations, all part of Joint Base San Antonio, employing more than 82,000 people directly, and lists the headquarters of USAA, H-E-B and Valero among the region’s major employers. It says most cybersecurity activity in Texas is clustered here, alongside more than 1,000 tech companies.

The second market is visitors. Visit San Antonio counts more than 39 million a year, and the BLS reported about 149,500 leisure and hospitality jobs in the San Antonio–New Braunfels metro in August 2026 (preliminary). The San Antonio Missions, five 18th-century mission complexes that include the Alamo, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, and UNESCO named San Antonio a Creative City of Gastronomy in 2017; the Culinary Institute of America’s Texas campus, in the Pearl District, has a Latin Cuisines Kitchen. Census data show 29,615 business applications in Bexar County in 2025 (requests for an employer ID number made mainly for business purposes), up from 18,005 in 2019.

I have no office in San Antonio and work remotely as a brand identity designer for companies there, on Central time. For a cyber or IT firm that bids for work, I plan the brand around the capability statement and proposal deck; for a hotel or restaurant, around the menu, shopfront and, in a historic district, a sign the city must approve. Already trading and unsure how much to change? Start with rebrand or refresh: 5 questions.

  • Where Air Forces Cyber is basedThe 16th Air Force (Air Forces Cyber), headquartered at JBSA-Lackland, operates and defends the Department of the Air Force’s information network. If you sell security or IT services to buyers like these, the logo has to read in one color on a capability statement, a badge and a booth banner.
  • A three-color limit on historic signsSigns on landmarks and in locally designated historic districts need a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Office of Historic Preservation. Its historic sign guidelines limit a sign to three colors, recommend light letters on a dark background, advise against internal lighting and prohibit digital and LED signs.
  • Along the riverThe River Improvement Overlay covers seven districts along the San Antonio River, from near Hildebrand Avenue to near Mission Espada, and the River Walk has its own design standards. The OHP and the Historic and Design Review Commission review work there, so allow time for that review in your opening plan.
  • More than one language at homeThe Census Bureau puts San Antonio at 64.6% Hispanic or Latino, and 40.4% of residents aged 5 and over speak a language other than English at home (2020–2024). If you sell to local households, test the name, tagline and menu wording with your own customers before the logo is drawn.
  • DBA at the county, LLC at the stateSole owners and general partnerships with premises in Bexar County that trade under another name file an assumed name certificate (DBA) with the Bexar County Clerk. A DBA is not a business license; the county sends you to the City to check. LLCs and corporations form with the Texas Secretary of State.
  • Help for first-time foundersLaunch SA, a partnership between the City of San Antonio and Geekdom inside the Central Library, runs workshops, business advising and mentorship. If you are still testing the idea there, a logo (2–4 weeks) may be enough to open with; plan the full identity once you know who buys from you.

Questions founders ask

Do you have an office or a team in San Antonio?

No. I work remotely with businesses in San Antonio and have no office or team there. The free 30-minute call and the weekly check-ins are booked on Central time, in your working hours.

Are you a freelance brand designer or an agency?

I am a brand designer and the founder of Wolfpixel, and I lead a design team for founders in the US and the Middle East, with 350+ projects behind us. Whether you run an IT contracting firm or a café in San Antonio and searched for a freelance brand designer, you get the same terms: a free 30-minute call, one fixed written price, two revision rounds per phase and full ownership of the final files.

Do you work as a rebranding specialist for established San Antonio companies?

Yes, remotely: 6–12 weeks for a rebrand, or 3–6 weeks for a brand refresh that keeps what your customers already recognize. If you are a sole owner or general partnership and your trading name changes, file a new assumed name certificate with the Bexar County Clerk: each name needs its own, a certificate with wrong details cannot be amended, and a Notice of Abandonment retires the old name. If you trade as an LLC or corporation, ask your lawyer about the Texas Secretary of State filings.

Will my logo work on a sign in a historic district or by the River Walk?

It can, if the sign rules are part of the brief. Signs on landmarks and in locally designated historic districts need a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Office of Historic Preservation, and its historic sign guidelines limit a sign to three colors, advise against internal lighting, prohibit digital and LED lighted signs and warn against hard-to-read lettering. Along the river, the River Improvement Overlay applies: the OHP and the Historic and Design Review Commission review work there against the river design standards in the city code. Tell me the address on the first call.

Do I need a Texas trademark or a federal one?

Your lawyer decides, but the main question is where you sell. The Texas Secretary of State registers marks used in Texas, and the USPTO says a state registration creates rights in that state only, which may suit a restaurant that serves San Antonio. If you plan to sell or bid in other states, a federal USPTO registration covers the whole US and its territories and allows the ® symbol. I don’t file trademarks: your lawyer files, and I hand over clean files. The naming service includes a preliminary USPTO search.

How much does branding cost for a San Antonio business?

It depends on the scope: how many places the brand has to work on day one, from capability statements and proposal decks to menus, shopfronts and signs. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, the timeline and the deliverables, and the price never changes mid-project. Is the work on this page from San Antonio?

No. The projects are chosen for their sector, and I don’t present any of them as a San Antonio client. Secuara is a cybersecurity brand in San Francisco, Wayfare a travel agency in Los Angeles, Reva7 a resort and Tong a coffee shop: my closest real work to the cyber, hospitality and food businesses described on this page.
