Fresno growers, packers and food brands,
from the carton to the shelf.

Need a brand designer in Fresno for a farm, a packing house, a food label or a winery? I work remotely on brand identity, rebrands, logos and packaging, planned for the carton a buyer sees first and the shelf a shopper sees later, with calls on Pacific time. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, the timeline and the deliverables. A brand identity takes 4–10 weeks and a rebrand 6–12 weeks.

Almonds, grapes and pistachios: branding for Fresno companies

Fresno is California’s fifth-largest city, with 555,549 residents in the Census Bureau’s July 2025 estimate, more than half of Fresno County’s 1,035,456. In the 2022 Census of Agriculture the county ranked first among US counties by the market value of farm products sold, and first for fruits, tree nuts and berries; almonds, grapes and pistachios cover the most acres. The county says its farmers raise more than 350 crops, many grown commercially nowhere else in the US, and that 2024 production value set a record at the time. A county report presented in November 2025 found that farm production and food processing accounted for 63,103 direct jobs in 2023, about 1 in 9 in Fresno County, and supported about 108,000 jobs in all. So a Fresno brand often has to read on a carton end, a spec sheet and a trade-show booth before it reaches a store shelf, and in more than one language.

Fresno State, founded in 1911, has nearly 25,000 students and a 1,000-acre campus farm, and the Fresno State Winery calls itself the nation’s first and largest commercial winery on a college campus.

I work remotely as a brand identity designer for Fresno companies, with no office in the Valley. My closest work is in agriculture; what a brand identity includes lists what a project hands over.

  • Most farms sell to buyers, not shoppersIn the 2022 Census of Agriculture, only 3% of Fresno County’s 4,427 farms sold directly to consumers; 90% were family farms and 5% farmed organically. For most growers and packers the first audience is a trade buyer, so the brand has to read on a carton, a spec sheet and a booth.
  • Plan for Spanish, Hmong and moreIn Fresno, 42.7% of residents aged 5 and over speak a language other than English at home, about 148,000 of them Spanish. About 27,000 residents are Hmong, the city’s largest Asian group (ACS 2020–2024), and the County’s website comes in Spanish, Hmong and Punjabi. Decide early which labels and signs need them.
  • A California trademark comes after launchThe Secretary of State registers a state trademark only once the goods or services are in commerce in California, and any non-English part of a mark needs a certified English translation. Its Trademark Unit also registers container brands and the names of farms, ranches, estates and villas.
  • City tax certificate, county business nameThe City of Fresno wants a Planning Department zone clearance before you apply for a business tax certificate. Using another name? File a fictitious business name with the Fresno County Clerk within 40 days of starting, publish it in a newspaper of general circulation in the county and renew it every five years.
  • Food and agtech startups at Fresno StateThe WET Center at Fresno State serves the Central Valley’s core industries, food, energy and agriculture. It runs the Valley Ventures accelerator and Culinary Catalyst, a program for food entrepreneurs. A young food or agtech brand has to explain itself plainly to growers, buyers and investors.
  • What a California produce carton must showA CDFA brochure posted by the County lists the IRQ marking: the commodity’s common name (no abbreviation), the responsible party’s name and address with ZIP code, and net weight, measure or count. Grapes, peaches, plums and citrus need standard containers. Lay out that panel before the logo.

Questions founders ask

Can you design packaging for Fresno nuts, produce or wine?

Yes, as a packaging design project (2–4 weeks). If you have no logo yet, we start with a brand identity (4–10 weeks). On produce cartons, plan space for the IRQ marking California requires. For wine, the TTB says it must be properly labeled before it can be sold in the US, and most wine labels must carry statements such as the brand name, class or type, net contents, name and address, the sulfite declaration and the health warning; label approval (a COLA) is applied for through COLAs Online, with no fee to apply.

Can I register my brand with the State of California before launch?

No. The California Secretary of State only registers a trademark or service mark once the goods or services are in commerce in California, and a registration runs for five years before it has to be renewed. A USPTO registration creates rights throughout the US and its territories and lets you use the ® symbol. I don’t file trademarks: your lawyer files, and I hand over clean files. The naming service includes a preliminary USPTO search.

Can you rebrand a family farm or packing house without losing what buyers know?

Yes. I work remotely as a rebranding specialist for Fresno businesses: a rebrand takes 6–12 weeks, and if the brand only looks dated, a brand refresh takes 3–6 weeks. The 2022 Census of Agriculture counted 90% of Fresno County farms as family farms, and in a family business the first question is what to keep: a name and mark buyers have known for years may need refining, not replacing.

How much does branding cost for a Fresno grower or food brand?

It depends on the scope: a packer may need cartons, trucks and a trade-show booth on day one, while a food brand may need retail packs with room for English and Spanish text. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, the timeline and the deliverables, and the price never changes mid-project. For typical US ranges, see the guide to brand identity cost in 2026.

Will I work with a freelance brand designer or an agency?

With an agency led by a designer. I am a brand designer and the founder of Wolfpixel, and I lead a design team for founders in the US and the Middle East, with 350+ projects behind us. If you searched for a freelance brand designer in Fresno, the terms stay simple: a free 30-minute call on Pacific time, one fixed written price, two revision rounds per phase and full ownership of the final files.

Can we meet in person in Fresno, or is it all remote?

It is all remote: I have no office or staff in Fresno. California keeps Pacific standard time (UTC−8) and moves to daylight time (UTC−7) from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, so the free 30-minute call and the weekly check-ins are booked in your working hours.

Have you worked with Fresno growers or packers before?

I can’t point to a Fresno client in the work shown here, and I won’t claim one. The closest real work I can show is Kresho, an agriculture brand with app UI; Nurtur, a seed company identity; ChocoBloom, chocolate packaging for the French market; and Bright Fizz, soda cans and a box.
