Logos, packaging and rebrands
for Ajman, planned in UAE time.
Looking for a brand designer in Ajman? A mainland Ajman company reserves its trade name with the Department of Economic Development early in licensing, and its license ends with a permit for the commercial sign board. I plan logos, packaging, rebrands and full identities around both, with the Arabic and English designed as one brand. I work remotely as a brand identity designer, with calls in UAE time (GMT+4), and after a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal in USD or AED.

What an Ajman brand has to work for
Ajman is the smallest of the seven emirates, about 260 sq km in all. Ajman city sits on the Arabian Gulf coast between Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain, and the emirate also includes two separate areas, Al Manama and Masfout, about 60 km and 110 km away. The Ajman Statistics Center estimated its population at 582,852 in 2024, up from 504,846 at the 2017 census. By the Ajman Statistics Centre’s preliminary estimates for 2023, manufacturing contributed 18.8% of GDP at current prices, followed by wholesale and retail trade with vehicle repair (18%) and construction (16.4%). In 2025, Ajman Chamber recorded 43,486 registered memberships, including 1,688 factories, up from 1,549 in 2024. Ajman Free Zone, set up in 1988, serves more than 20,000 customers from around 200 nationalities, and Ajman Media City Free Zone licenses media, tech and creative businesses through a fully digital platform.
Put together, one Ajman logo may end up on a factory carton, a contract or letter that must carry the company’s trade name and registration number, a DED-approved shop sign and a free-zone startup’s first social posts, for customers and partners of many nationalities. As a visual identity designer for Ajman companies, I plan the logo, type and color for all of them at once. I work remotely with businesses in Ajman and have no office there. To see how Arabic and English fit together, read how to design a bilingual Arabic–English brand.
- Reserve the trade name before the logoWith “Go Business”, Ajman’s Department of Economic Development (DED) issues a license in five steps, the second being the trade name. It can refuse a name that misleads and won’t register one confusingly similar to a registered name. A company’s name and registration number go on all contracts and correspondence.
- The shop sign is permitted by the DEDAjman’s license issuance ends with Chamber membership and a permit for the commercial sign board, and Ajman DED says the signboard permit has a form for the sign’s design by calligraphers. A sign that departs from the approved specifications, or banners, screens and leaflets without a permit, are listed DED violations.
- Factories need packaging that stands apartManufacturing was Ajman’s largest sector in 2023. At a meeting reported in October 2025, Ajman Chamber’s industrial groups proposed sorting factories into sectors such as food, textiles, furniture, metal, plastics, packaging and perfumes. Ajman DED lists imitated packaging among counterfeiting methods.
- Free-zone companies are multiplyingThe Free Zones Authority of Ajman says its registered companies rose 216% in 2025 over 2024. Ajman Media City Free Zone has packages for individuals and freelancers in media, tech and creative work; if you are the business, a personal brand may fit better than a company logo.
- Home businesses are growing fastIn 2025, Ajman’s Department of Economic Development issued 14% more new licenses than in 2024, new investors rose 49% and new home-based business licenses rose 33%. If you sell from home through social media, your logo has to read clearly at the size of a profile picture.
- The trade name is not a trademarkUnder Ajman DED’s rules a company does not own its trade name, only the right to use it. Trademarks are registered with the federal Ministry of Economy and Tourism, which checks for identical or similar marks and allows 30 days for objections. Ajman DED’s fraud division acts on trademark owners’ complaints.

Questions founders ask
Do you have an office or a team in Ajman?
No. I work remotely with businesses in Ajman and have no office or team there. Calls and weekly check-ins are booked in UAE time, four hours ahead of GMT, and proposals come in USD or AED. Your own sign maker and printer produce the sign and print from the final files, which you fully own.
Does my Ajman shop need an Arabic version of its logo?
Plan for one. Arabic is the UAE’s official language and signs on commercial outlets are in Arabic and English, so a logo drawn only in Latin letters would share your sign with Arabic lettering. Ajman DED also says paper ads cannot be in English only: they must be printed in Arabic and English. For the UAE I design Arabic and English versions of the name, logo and type so they work as one brand, including right-to-left layouts.
Should I settle the trade name before the logo?
Yes. Ajman DED reserves the trade name at the start of licensing. It can refuse a name that misleads and won’t register one confusingly similar to a registered name, so a logo drawn first may need redrawing. My naming service gives you name ideas, a shortlist, domain and social checks and a preliminary trademark search, including the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism. It is not an Arabic–English meaning check, so have a native speaker review the shortlist, and it does not check Ajman DED’s trade name register, so reserve the name with the DED before the logo is final.
Can you brand a company set up in Ajman Free Zone or Ajman Media City?
Yes. The design work is the same as for a mainland company, but Ajman Free Zone and Ajman Media City issue their own licenses, not Ajman DED, so the DED trade name and sign steps on this page may not apply to you as written; check the free zone’s own rules before the artwork is final. A logo takes 2–4 weeks and a full brand identity 4–10 weeks, so you can launch with a logo and build the identity next.
What should a rebranding specialist plan for an older Ajman company?
Plan for the paperwork and the sign as well as the look. A rebrand takes 6–12 weeks, or a brand refresh 3–6 weeks if the brand still fits and only the look has aged. If a mainland company’s trade name changes, Ajman DED must be notified, and the name and registration number must appear in all contracts and correspondence, so plan new letterheads and contract templates. A sign that departs from DED-approved specifications is a listed violation, so time the sign permit and your lawyer’s trademark filing with the launch. I design the identity; the DED steps and filings stay with you.
How much does branding cost for an Ajman business?
It depends on the scope: a logo, a full identity, packaging for a product range or a rebrand, in one script or two. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal in USD or AED with one price, the timeline and the deliverables, and the price never changes mid-project.
Are the projects on this page Ajman clients?
They are not presented as Ajman clients. I chose them for their sector, not their location, as my closest real work to the construction, trade, manufacturing and shop activity described on this page: Astrix Builders in construction, ROMO Logistics in transport, Bright Fizz in drinks packaging and Tong, a coffee shop with its own shopfront.
