Branding for Sohar companies,
done remotely in Oman time.

Looking for a brand designer in Sohar? I work remotely, designing brand identities, rebrands and Arabic–English logos for port, Freezone and factory companies and for shops in town. Sohar Port took in 77.9% of the goods Oman imported by sea in 2024, and expatriates were just over half of the wilayat’s registered residents that year, so a Sohar brand often has to win industrial buyers, in two languages. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal; a brand identity takes 4–10 weeks.

Sohar: Oman’s industrial port, and what it asks of a brand

Sohar is the regional center of North Al Batinah. NCSI’s Statistical Year Book 2025 describes a town of construction, industry, trade and agriculture, known for copper mining, and counts 287,094 registered residents in the wilayat in 2024: 142,575 Omanis and 144,519 expatriates. Its industry centers on SOHAR Port and Freezone, a 50/50 joint venture between Asyad Group and the Port of Rotterdam on 6,720 hectares, with clusters from metals and petrochemicals to food and logistics, and on Madayn’s Suhar Industrial City.

That shapes the brief. For a company in the port, the Freezone or the industrial city, the customer is often another business, so the brand has to hold up on tender documents, spec sheets, trucks, site signs and safety wear, not only on a website. And in a wilayat where expatriates slightly outnumbered Omanis in 2024, signs and packs usually need to work in both Arabic and English. As a brand identity designer for Sohar companies, I plan the Arabic and English versions of the name, logo and type together, so they work as one brand.

All of this happens remotely, on calls in GMT+4 from Sunday to Thursday, with no office in Sohar. For Oman’s Arabic labeling rules, see the Oman page; for how two scripts share one identity, read the bilingual Arabic–English guide.

  • SOHAR Freezone: one window for licensesThe Freezone’s One-Stop Shop handles company registration and licensing, labor permits, visas and customs registration. Companies there can be 100% foreign-owned, with at least two shareholders, and may employ up to 85% foreign staff. Settle the company name before the logo work starts.
  • Port cargo up 52% in the first half of 2026SOHAR Port and Freezone reported 52 million metric tons of cargo throughput in the first half of 2026, up 52% on the same period of 2025. Containers rose 40% to 545,000 TEUs, with 1,555 vessel calls. A logistics or marine brand here has to read clearly on bids, vehicles and port paperwork.
  • Suhar Industrial City: 497 projectsIn August 2026, Madayn reported 497 localized projects in Suhar Industrial City, employing about 12,671 workers, after 39 investment contracts in the first half of the year. One, a ceramic plant, plans to export 75% of its output to GCC and nearby markets. Factory brands here need packs and catalogs that travel.
  • Mainland registration, trademarks and signsMainland name checks and commercial registration run on the Commerce Ministry’s Oman Business Platform. It also takes license applications and sends trademarks to the National Intellectual Property Office. Signboard permits for new branches moved to it from municipalities in April 2023, when it was called Invest Easy.
  • A railway to the UAEHafeet Rail, the 238-kilometer Oman–UAE railway, was 40% complete in April 2026, with works at Sohar, Wadi Al Jizzi, Al Buraimi and Al Ain, and is planned to carry passengers and freight, linking ports, industrial zones and logistics hubs. A Sohar brand should be ready for UAE buyers too.
  • Young founders in North Al BatinahIn September 2026, SOHAR Port and Freezone and the Youth Center concluded the first Ruwaj program for Omani youth aged 20–34 in North Al Batinah. It gave 100 aspiring entrepreneurs 125 hours of training, including in branding and product packaging. A first product needs a name, a logo and a pack that can grow with it.

Questions founders ask

My company is in SOHAR Freezone. What should the brand settle first?

The company name, because your license, domain, trademark and signs all build on it. The One-Stop Shop handles registration and licensing, so agree the Arabic and English spelling of the name before you apply, and decide which language leads on each touchpoint if your shareholders and staff come from abroad. A logo takes 2–4 weeks; a full brand identity takes 4–10 weeks and adds strategy, imagery, voice, guidelines and a Figma library.

Do you have an office in Sohar?

No. I work remotely with businesses in Sohar; there is no office or local team there. Calls and weekly check-ins run Sunday to Thursday in GMT+4, Oman’s official working week. If the job covers a fleet, site signs or packs, send photos of your trucks, gates, uniforms and current packs before the first call, so the applications are designed for what you actually use. You own all final files at the end.

Can you rebrand an established Sohar contractor or transport company?

Yes. If you need a rebranding specialist, a rebrand covers a new strategy and identity in 6–12 weeks; a lighter brand refresh takes 3–6 weeks and keeps what still works. For a contractor or transporter, the new look has to work on trucks, uniforms, site boards and tender documents, so I show it on those in the identity phase and hand over master files your team and suppliers can switch to in stages. If the name changes, check your commercial registration and trademark with your lawyer first.

Does a Sohar brand need Arabic and English?

In most cases, yes. Arabic is Oman’s official language and English is widely spoken, and in 2024 expatriates were just over half of the 287,094 registered residents of the wilayat of Sohar, according to NCSI. For an industrial company the practical question is which script leads where: on tender documents, spec sheets, gate signs and trucks. In a full identity I set that in the guidelines; the bilingual logo design service covers an Arabic and English logo designed as one mark, with its lockups, in 2–4 weeks.

I have a first product from North Al Batinah. What do I need before I sell it?

Usually a name, a logo and a pack. Logo design takes 2–4 weeks and packaging design 2–4 weeks, and both can grow into a full brand identity later. Oman’s Consumer Protection Law asks for the price, weight, production and expiry dates, ingredients and origin in Arabic on the product, so I design the Arabic panel together with the English one. Check that the name is free on the Oman Business Platform before the logo work starts, and have your lawyer file the trademark with the National Intellectual Property Office.

How much does branding cost in Sohar?

It depends on the scope: a logo for a new Freezone company, a full identity for a factory or a logistics firm, or a rebrand, in one language or two. After a free 30-minute call you get a fixed written proposal with one price, the timeline and the deliverables, and the price never changes mid-project. The guide to brand identity cost explains typical market ranges.

Are the projects on this page from Sohar?

They are chosen for their sector, not their location, and I don’t present any of them as a Sohar client. ROMO Logistics in transport, Astrix Builders in construction and ZAYAN in solar energy are my closest real work as a visual identity designer to Sohar’s logistics, industrial and energy companies; the Bright Fizz soda cans are my closest packaging work for its food and drink makers.
